Confusing NCAA ruling against Ohio State
I’m very confused by this NCAA ruling. The NCAA says the players are still eligible for the Sugar Bowl because they didn’t receive “adequate rules education during the time period the violations occurred.” Then why are they receiving a penalty at all? During the offseason, will the NCAA travel back in time to provide adequate education?
What IS the rule about selling gear? Once it belongs to the player, why can’t he do whatever he wants with it? Pryor reportedly sold his stuff to help out his mom. If he had given his gear to his mom, would she have been allowed to sell it herself? If universities don’t want students to sell stuff worth thousands of dollars, maybe the universities shouldn’t give it to them.
